Multi-Agency response to local fire

Good Morning

Last Friday (20th June) at around 1844hrs Police and Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue received multiple calls regarding a fire on Birds Hill, Letchworth. Fire appliances arrived within a few minutes and requested police attendance to evacuate local residents and to ensure public safety.

Officers from around the county arrived to assist with road closures and our unit, the Rural Operational Support Team (ROST), were requested to assist with our drone capability. We arrived and utilised our thermal cameras to identify areas of the building that were showing heat signatures to ensure there was a limited risk of reignition.

The fire was under control by 2200hrs and there were no reported injuries, there is an investigation underway.
